ABOUT J.BLES

On September 2, 1986, Jamahal Richa'd Emerson better known as J.Bles and alias Fli Boi Jay, was brought into this world ready to be a star. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Jay grew up around various talents, including Dallas Austin along with Dallas’s sister-in-law who Jay and his mother stay with for a while as Jay’s mother and now manager looked for a place to call home. This talent along with Jay’s natural curiosity for music led him to imitate the greats, such as Micheal Jackson, Another Bad Creation, Kris Kross, and Rakim.
What he didn’t know was how much more he would soon fall in love with music and a more brilliant artist. One day in school, Jay’s friend let him listen to a new rhythmic flow that he hadn’t heard before. At that time he was introduced to his first influences of southern rap, Atlanta’s legendary group, Outkast. Outkast’s passionate lyrics contributed to Jay wanting to experiment with poetry within his middle school years. During this time he learnt important aspects of poetry which grew into him having an overall passion for writing.
Later in 2000, Jay’s parents unfortunately filed for divorce which took him on a mental and emotional rollercoaster. Not knowing a way to release his anger toward the situation, he built a wall around himself, shutting out important people in his life. A year later, a solution came to him while talking to a friend. This friend helped Jay discover another side of southern rap and a new role model to compliment it as well. T.I., his new role model, lyrics were so relatable that Jay was inspired to write his own lyrics. This marked the beginning of J.Bles’ bright future in the music industry as a rapper.
He continued to write day in and day out, juggling school and band practice on top of that. Now all he needed was the necessary means to record. In 2003, he got together with friends Carlos Poole and Jarvis McCollum to form the group “Triple Threat”. After setting up a computer and recording system in his bedroom bathroom, the group released their first CD titled, “The Beginning” and performed their first show at local skating rink, Sparkles, in Riverdale, Georgia. Shortly after in 2004, Jay graduated from Riverdale High School and left to attend college at Grambling State University. Even with moving from his beloved city of Atlanta, he continued to follow his dreams of becoming a rapper. In 2005, after the collaborations with new college friends, Evan “E-Mac” Palmer, Cordarrel “Dude” Patterson, and Abdul “Dule” Muhammad, Jay then took an interest in producing. Going after everything he sets his mind to, he established his work as a producer using the name, Traxx Spinnas Productions.
Later that year after a lot of hard work, the group released their first mixtape entitled “By Any Means Necessary.”  The release of the mixtape and random battle raps around the campus helped Jay create a name for himself at Grambling State University. Even with this, Jay still decided to return to his city of Atlanta in April 2006, leaving Grambling to go to Clark Atlanta University. Unfortunately After returning from Grambling, the group spilt up due to the lack of group work. With the group over, Jay was able to focus on his own career as a solo rapper.
Even as a solo rapper, Jay felt the need to find a team who had the same vision of success as himself. Chris Scales, Jay’s cousin and best friend, and Chad Conley, Jay’s best friend from high school, became Jay’s new supporting team. With Scales being a film director since middle school and Conley’s love for music to joint the venture of Traxx Spinnas Productions. Jay found that teaming up with them would be the best start for all of their careers.
After taking time to find himself as an artist and creating networking relationships around Atlanta, Jay released his first major single produced by Chad and himself, “The Boy Got Swag (2008)” which was accompanied by his first video directed by Scales for Virgo Vision Films. Jay continued to network and create music which led him to the opportunity for him to open for recording artist, T-Pain at Clark Atlanta’s 2009 Homecoming Concert.
Moving forward with his dreams, Jay searched for a label to call his home but did not find one that he truly felt he could be true to. After having insight from one of his idols, Jay-Z, Jay set out to create his own label and independent movement with the creation of Fli Boi Entertainment in 2010. He continued to establish himself as an artist by constantly working and collaborating with other artist and producers. With careful creation and dedication, Jay released his debut mixtape entitled “The Introduction Before The Introduction.” The mixtape was such a success, the streets of Atlanta started to hear more and more of J.Bles’ name. With this exposure and the great deals of downloads of the mixtape, Jay has been granted multiple invitations to perform at various events. As of now, J.Bles is still hard at work in the studio to create great music that will lead him to a promising future.
